GULFSTREAM’S LONG BEACH SERVICE CENTER RECEIVES MAINTENANCE APPROVAL FROM THE CIVIL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION OF CHINA
Maintenance Can Now Be Performed on Chinese-Registered GIV/IV-SP Business Jets at Gulfstream’s West Coast Facility
SAVANNAH, Ga., June 3, 2005 -Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has received approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), to provide support for Chinese-registered Gulfstream IV-SP (GIV-SP) business-jet aircraft at the company’s Long Beach, Calif., service center.
“Chinese companies operating GIV/GIV-SP aircraft now have the opportunity to have their aircraft serviced in the United States,” said Larry Flynn, president, Gulfstream Product Support. “Immediately following receipt of the CAAC approval, Long Beach completed service on an Air China Business Jets GIV and returned the aircraft to service.”
The CAAC also has granted approval for the Gulfstream Long Beach Service Center to provide maintenance for Chinese-registered Gulfstream II (GII) and Gulfstream III (GIII) aircraft.
Located adjacent to the Long Beach Airport, Gulfstream’s Long Beach facility has been in operation since 1986. The center provides complete airframe maintenance, routine maintenance, refurbishment, major repairs and modifications. Gulfstream’s large-cabin, ultra-long range aircraft – the G500 and G550 – are also outfitted at the site’s Final Phase of Manufacturing facility. This includes the installation of furniture, carpeting, cabin liners, flooring, lighting and exterior paint.
Gulfstream operates five service centers in the United States – Long Beach; Dallas; Appleton, Wis.; Savannah and Brunswick, Ga. – as well as a service center in Luton, England. Additionally under the General Dynamics Aviation Services name, Gulfstream operates six additional service centers in Las Vegas; Dallas; Minneapolis; Appleton, Westfiield, Mass.; and West Palm Beach, Fla. These service centers perform maintenance work on Gulfstream aircraft as well as other business-jet manufacturers’ aircraft, including Challengers, Cessnas, Citations, Hawkers and Falcons.
