AIR WORKS INDIA TO SUPPORT GULFSTREAM SALES EFFORTS IN INDIA
Local Market Knowledge Combined with Gulfstream Fleet Offering Make Strong Combination for Success
SAVANNAH, Ga., March 7, 2005 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has entered into a sales representation agreement with Air Works India Engineering Private Limited. Air Works India will offer Gulfstream's fleet of seven business jet aircraft to the growing India market.
Air Works India is an aircraft sales and service company based at Mumbai International Airport, with facilities in Delhi, Chennai, Pune and Ahmedabad. Established in 1951, the company has earned a reputation for dependability and enjoys well established relationships with a number of key corporate clients and state and central government agencies.
"With seven aircraft in our fleet, at various price and performance points, we believe Gulfstream is well equipped to meet most business jet travel requirements," said Roger Sperry, Gulfstream vice president, sales, Latin America and the Far East. "While most customers and prospects are familiar with the large-cabin, long-range and ultra-long range Gulfstream G550, G500, G450 and G350 aircraft, we now have three other aircraft --- the G100, G150 and G200 ---in the mid-size and super mid-size categories to meet more local and regional air transport requirements.
"This means that for customers who routinely need to fly from Mumbai to London, England, the G500 and G550 will meet their needs non-stop and at high speed. For customers who routinely need to fly less distance, we now have viable and efficient alternatives for them to consider," continued Sperry.
"The fact that the G550, G500, G450, G350 and GV share the same pilot type rating, resulting in very real economies of scale with respect to pilot training and maintenance, adds additional attraction to our offerings," said Sperry. "Add to that our worldwide award-winning product support network, and we believe we have a very compelling story to tell the growing India market."
There are currently nine Gulfstream aircraft based in India, with both public and private sector operators. In addition Gulfstream enjoys considerable acceptance among prominent non-resident Indians.
Gulfstream recently attended Aero India 2005, a five-day business aviation show held in Bangalore. The company had the large-cabin, mid-range G200 on static display.
