GULFSTREAM'S U.K. MAINTENANCE CENTER DOUBLES HANGAR SPACE AFTER ITS FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION
Gulfstream London-Luton Service Center Continues Expanding Customer Base; Receives Approval to Service GII and GIV Aircraft Registered in Bahrain
SAVANNAH, Ga., May 24, 2004 – To meet growing customer demand, Gulfstream’s London-Luton maintenance center will double its hangar space from 28,000 to 56,000 square feet following the June 1 occupancy of an adjacent hangar building. By leasing the additional space, the U.K.-based Gulfstream product support center is increasing its capacity by 75 percent to meet the immediate service needs of its customers.
"The outstanding acceptance our London-Luton product support center has achieved since becoming operational a year ago April is most encouraging," said Larry Flynn, president, product support, Gulfstream. "We are especially thankful to the European and Middle-Eastern business-jet owners and operators who have entrusted their aircraft to our highly skilled technicians. The success of our London-Luton service center is proof positive that Gulfstream’s world-class product support transcends oceans, continents and borders."
The first and only Gulfstream-owned service center to be operated outside the United States, London-Luton also is the first maintenance facility located outside the United States to earn an employer Aviation Maintenance Training Diamond Award of Excellence from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The success of Gulfstream London-Luton can be attributed to the company’s continuous effort to meet the maintenance needs of European and Middle Eastern business-jet owners and operators. Most recently, Gulfstream London-Luton received approval from the Kingdom of Bahrain’s civil aviation authority to perform maintenance on GII and GIV aircraft registered in Bahrain. In February, the United Arab Emirates’ General Civil Aviation Authority granted approval for the service center to perform maintenance on Gulfstream IV and G300 business-jet aircraft. The same month, Honeywell named Gulfstream London-Luton an authorized service center for TFE-series engines. In 2003, the facility received approval from both the Civil Aviation Authority in the United Kingdom and the FAA to perform service on Gulfstream V aircraft.
"Everyone at our London-Luton facility, including Marc Schneider, the general manager, has a great deal for which they can be proud," added Flynn. "They’ve proven the Gulfstream formula works no matter where it is implemented. We are committed to providing nothing less than outstanding service to our customers to ensure their aircraft continue operating at the optimum level for which they were designed."
