GULFSTREAM LONDON LUTON IS FIRST SERVICE CENTER OUTSIDE UNITED STATES TO RECEIVE DIAMOND AWARD FROM THE U.S. FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION
Industry's Diamond Certificate of Excellence Recognizes Highest Level of Maintenance Training
SAVANNAH, Ga., Jan. 20, 2004 - The Gulfstream London Luton service center, located in Luton, England, is the first Federal Aviation Administration-certificated aircraft maintenance center outside the United States to be awarded the FAA's Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Diamond Certificate of Excellence. The prestigious award recognizes the highest level of five levels of technician maintenance training.
"We're extremely proud of our crew at London Luton," said Larry Flynn, president, Gulfstream Product Support. "Dedicated to excellence in their field, some 40 maintenance technicians have accomplished an outstanding achievement in a very short period of time. By earning the Diamond Award, they have established their service center as one of the best in the industry and one of the best in their region."
Acquired by Gulfstream just nine months ago, Gulfstream London Luton joins Gulfstream's five U.S.-based service centers as a recognized AMT Diamond Award station. The U.K.-based facility became eligible for the employer Diamond Award when 83 percent of its eligible employees received six hours or more of training during the calendar year. Only 25 percent employee participation is required to earn the site Diamond Award.
Created by the Federal Aviation Administration in 1992, the AMT certificate program recognizes eligible technicians and employers with Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby or Diamond Awards.
The first Gulfstream-owned service center to be operated outside the United States, the London Luton service center provides comprehensive service for all current models of Gulfstream aircraft – the Gulfstream G550™, G500™, G450™ G400™ and G300™. Additionally, it provides service for legacy Gulfstream aircraft – the GV®, GIV® / IV-SP®, GIII® and the GII® – and maintenance for Citation, Falcon and Hawker aircraft owners in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In addition to the service center at the London Luton Airport just 35 miles north of central London, Gulfstream operates five service centers in the United States -- in Long Beach, Calif.; Dallas; Appleton, Wis.; Savannah, Ga., and Brunswick, Ga.
