GULFSTREAM TAKES LARGE-CABIN, MID-RANGE GULFSTREAM G200™ BUSINESS JET ON THE ROAD
Built-in Gulfstream Reliability and Maintenance Program Included With Purchase
SAVANNAH, Ga., April 10, 2003 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), is bringing its large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G200 to customers across the country - from Windsor Locks, Conn., to Santa Monica, Calif. - so prospective customers can experience firsthand the business jet's exceptional quality, comfort and value. The Gulfstream G200 Road Show started on April 7 and continues through June 25, stopping at 57 airports throughout the contiguous United States and an airport in Mexico City. The G200 Road Show schedule and list of locations is available online at www.OwnG200.com.
"We are confident that our G200 Road Show guests will be impressed when they come aboard this large-cabin business jet," said Raynor Reavis, senior vice president, marketing and sales, Gulfstream. "We acquired the type design for this aircraft two years ago. Today it carries the Gulfstream name as well as the built-in reliability that is synonymous with the Gulfstream brand."
The G200 lives up to large-cabin expectations, accommodating up to 10 passengers and offering outstanding performance with its excellent climb, high-cruising altitude, high-speed, long-range and short-landing capabilities. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW 306A engines, the G200 can reach speeds up to Mach .85 and altitudes up to 45,000 feet. With low ambient noise levels, 100 percent fresh air and natural light from generous windows, the cabin provides a comfortable workspace for busy travelers.
"Unlike the competition, the G200 is certified and available for delivery now," continued Reavis. "G200 owners also will enjoy the lowest operating costs in the large-cabin, mid-range class. And, as part of the Gulfstream family, they will experience excellent support with our 5-year Exclusive Gulfstream Maintenance Program that supplements an already generous warranty."
Two Gulfstream employee teams will conduct G200 static demonstrations - one throughout the eastern United States and the other throughout the west. A Gulfstream G200 aircraft will accompany each team and, for comparative purposes, the teams may display a competitor's aircraft alongside the G200.
"Prospective business jet customers don't necessarily have the time to get to know every available aircraft, so Gulfstream will bring the G200 to them," Reavis said. "With static displays scheduled at local FBOs (fixed-base operators) across the United States, we will reach everyone who wants to get to know this outstanding aircraft."
Also available to warrantied G200 customers is Gulfstream's industry-exclusive Airborne Product Support™. Launched in May 2002, Airborne Product Support features a dedicated mid-cabin, high-speed Gulfstream G100™ jet that delivers flight-essential parts and/or technicians to warrantied Gulfstream customers in North America and the Caribbean. To accomplish this, the G100 flies directly to the customer or to a major hub where connecting international commercial transportation is available. "Two years of hard work have culminated in an aircraft that we are confident will grab the attention of our customers and aircraft enthusiasts," said Bill Boisture, president, Gulfstream. "Our continuous investment in product improvement and strict adherence to Gulfstream's philosophy of 'building in' reliability have paid off with an excellent product at an excellent price. And to demonstrate our complete confidence in the G200's quality and performance, we have added the 5-year Exclusive Gulfstream Maintenance Program."
The Exclusive Gulfstream Maintenance Program covers the cost of parts and labor for aircraft structure and components that are part of Gulfstream's recommended scheduled maintenance program for the first five years or 2,500 hours of service - whichever comes first. Under the program, all labor must be performed at a Gulfstream or General Dynamics Aviation Services facility, and parts must be supplied by the respective facility. Inspections that are required by Gulfstream customer bulletins also are included. The maintenance program has some exclusions, details of which are available from Gulfstream sales representatives.
"As part of the G200 improvement effort, we worked diligently to maximize the efficiency of the aircraft's interior," Boisture added. "We welcome our Road Show guests to compare this aircraft - nose-to-nose - with its closest competitors. No competing aircraft can come close to the G200 cabin."
As with every Gulfstream aircraft, the design of the G200 cockpit incorporates industry-leading technology. The flight deck features the Engine Indicating and Crew Alert System (EICAS), an Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS), which provides critical information on electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems at a glance. For efficiency and safety, the G200 also includes the TCAS (traffic alert and collision avoidance system) and EGPWS (enhanced ground proximity warning system) with windshear warning.
