Gulfstream Aerospace Delivers First C-37A For U.S. Commander-In-Chief Support Missionn
Military Gulfstream V Replaces Older, Less Efficient Aircraft
Savannah, GA, February 21, 2000 - Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today that the United States government has received the first C-37A aircraft for the Department of Defense regional Commander-in-Chief (CINC) support mission. The delivery marks the fourth C-37A to enter U.S. government service. The C-37A is the U.S. military designation for the Gulfstream V -- the world's first ultra-long range business jet.

"The CINC C-37A provides a private and efficient working environment for our military leaders traveling to and from worldwide theaters of operation. The aircraft's comprehensive communication suite also ensures secure and reliable voice and data transmission anywhere in the world."
"The C-37As, which have been in U.S. military service for over a year, are proving to be exceptionally versatile and reliable aircraft for government missions," said Sams. "The aircraft are fully integrated into the Air Force inventory with complete spares and infrastructure support. As advertised they are demonstrating dramatically lower operation and support costs."
The U.S. Air Force has two C-37A aircraft in service, assigned to the 89th Airlift Wing. They are providing fast, safe and reliable worldwide transportation for cabinet members, members of Congress, senior government officials and dignitaries. A third C-37A was purchased by the Air Force and was delivered to the U.S. Army. Two additional C-37As, to be used for counter terrorism and disaster response missions, will be delivered to the U.S. government later this year. The aircraft will be operated by the Air Force for flexible, rapid response capability to federal agencies tasked with reacting to worldwide contingencies.
For more than 35 years of Gulfstream's 40 year history, the corporation has supplied the most capable and cost-effective business-jet-based special missions aircraft in the world. Gulfstreams are in use by more than 30 world governments and military services.
