Sr. Vice President, Government Programs and Sales
Buddy Sams is responsible for integrating and leading Gulfstream's U.S. Government sales, marketing, program management and legislative efforts. In addition, he directs the company's response to international special mission requirements and coordinates support for the regional sales executives in pursuit of international military and head-of-state air transportation opportunities.
Sams joined Gulfstream in 1995 as Vice President, Government and Special Missions Marketing. Previously, he was a Brigadier General and Commander, 89th Airlift Wing, at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., responsible for the operation of the U.S. Air Force's Presidential Wing and all installation functions at the base.
Earlier in his career, Sams served as Commandant, Armed Forces Staff College, in Norfolk, Va. He retired from the Air Force with more than 29 years of service.
Sams earned a bachelor's degree in international affairs from the United States Air Force Academy and a master's degree in management from Webster University. He also attended Harvard University's Program for senior executives in national and international security. Sams is a Command Pilot with more than 4,500 flying hours in various types of aircraft.
